The Ai-DUAL 1\/2-BALL putter’s distinct semicircular design, composed of straight and curved lines<\/span><\/strong>
\n, offers a distinct difference from other models the moment you set up. This is due to the semicircular design, with a straight line at the front and a curved line at the back, which, as the name suggests, represents a half-ball. Odyssey’s newly introduced alignment system also contributes to this. Because the semicircular design, with a straight line at the front and a curved line at the back, makes it easy to sense any misalignment between the face and the ball when setting up a more than perfect circle. By aligning the ball with the center alignment line, even more accurate setup is possible. A pilot study was conducted by golf clubs at two American universities, involving 52 participants and 1,060 putts. The results were very positive, with improvements in face orientation at address and more consistent putting direction. Furthermore, the putter achieved 1.13 out of 10 successful putts from approximately 2 meters compared to conventional putters.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Ai-DUAL Putter features two types of resin: a soft resin on the striking surface and a hard resin on the inside.<\/span><\/strong>
\nLike the previously released Square 2 Square TRI-HOT putter, it features the AI-DUAL insert, which underwent approximately 15,000 simulations and 72 prototypes. However, rather than being a zero-torque putter, this model features a standard shaft position. Unlike the Ai-ONE and Ai-ONE Titanium inserts, the AI-DUAL insert is made entirely of resin, with a soft resin on the striking surface and a hard resin on the inside.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Ai-DUAL insert, which not only stabilizes ball speed but also generates more forward spin,<\/span><\/strong>
\nfeatures a complex, winding shape at the interface between the two resin layers, similar to the underside of the Ai-ONE insert. This was developed by AI with a focus on not only the Ai-ONE insert’s consistent ball speed regardless of impact position, but also the spin imparted to the ball. Generally, due to the gear effect, a ball tends to spin clockwise when it hits the upper part of the face, and backspin when it hits the lower part. Naturally, this also affects the ball’s rolling distance. The Ai-DUAL insert is designed to impart stable forward spin regardless of whether it’s hit on the upper or lower part of the face. Furthermore, because the bottom of the insert is flush with the sole, the distinctive shape between the two resin layers, created by AI, is more visible than the Ai-ONE putter, which has a clear polycarbonate window.<\/span><\/p>\n

The isosceles triangle-shaped grooves also contribute to the forward spin and excellent roll.<\/span><\/strong>
\nThe Ai-DUAL insert also features a new groove, the FRD (Forward Roll Design) groove, which contributes to the excellent roll. Unlike the Ai-ONE insert, the cross section has a unique shape consisting of a series of right-angled triangular depressions. The area where the ball hits the ball is angled 19 degrees from the vertical.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Ai-DUAL insert offers a feel and sound closer to the White Hot insert<\/span><\/strong>
\n. The Ai-ONE insert was developed to be similar to the White Hot insert, but some users complained that it was “harder” and “higher-pitched” than the White Hot insert, likely due to its resin and aluminum construction. The Ai-DUAL insert is made entirely of resin, so it’s designed to have a softer feel and a lower sound than the Ai-ONE insert. The improved feel is also due in part to the adoption of the FRD grooves mentioned above.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Ai-DUAL 1\/2-BALL Putter comes in three head styles, including<\/span><\/strong>
\nthe #7 S, which combines a horn-shaped design with a short slant neck; the DW, which features a wide blade; and the JAILBIRD MINI DB, which features a black and white striped alignment. These heads are paired with all-steel STROKE LAB shafts, weighing in the 90g range. As always, they offer low torque and a high overall moment of inertia. The putters are available in lengths of 33 and 34 inches, with the JAILBIRD MINI DB available in a 34-inch length for left-handed players. The half-ball design makes it easy to see any misalignment. <\/span>A new type of circular alignment has been born.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Odyssey’s circular alignment system has been reimagined. The new Ai-DUAL 1\/2-BALL putter uses a single ball cut in half, rather than multiple balls lined up like the 2-BALL. The combination of curved and straight lines, including a central black line, effectively allows you to easily identify the alignment of the face relative to the ball and the target at address. The face features the latest Ai-DUAL insert, designed through approximately 15,000 AI prototypes, which combines two resins into a complex curved surface. Like the Ai-ONE insert, it maintains consistent ball speed even on off-center hits, while generating more forward spin (clockwise rotation) regardless of impact location compared to previous models. By reducing the impact of turf grain and slope, you can aim for the cup with a thinner line (less curvature). It makes it easier to achieve the distance and direction you intended, significantly increasing your chances of hitting the ball in the cup. <\/span>The head types are #7 S, DW, and JAILBIRD MINI DB.
